In the framework of the VII Mediterranean Week of Economic Leaders, that took place in Barcelona on November 20th-22nd, 2013,  ASCAME (Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry ) and the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona, and MedCities,  organized an open seminar on the elaboration of Urban Development Strategies and their implementation.

The aim of this seminar was to assess the last years of urban strategic planning in the Mediterranean and to discuss the best ways to move forward from the elaboration of an Urban Development Strategy to its successful implementation. The Seminar brought together mayors and practitioners from several Mediterranean countries which discussed strategic projects implemented in their cities as a Best Practice exchange.

The GMI Project Manager, Ms. Diana Kobayter, participated to the MEDA CITY Seminar and presented the GMI project during a session on “The importance of partnership in the implementation of Urban Development Strategies: strategic alliances”.

ASCAME signed an agreement with MedCities for the mutual collaboration in the framework of ongoing and future international projects in the Mediterranean region, particularly through support to the activities of the ongoing projects of both parties through participation in activities of interest to Mediterranean municipalities and to the Mediterrranean private sector. Specifically, as a concrete initiative in this regard, both parties wish to collaborate on mutual promotion activities of the GMI project.
